Growing Up by The Linda Lindas

Growing Up, the Linda Lindas' debut album, came out on Epitaph on April 8, 2022, and it sounds exactly like its title: four Los Angeles punks working out who they are at full volume. Carlos de la Garza, father of guitarist Lucia and drummer Mila de la Garza, produced it at Music Friends in LA between June and October 2021, with Bela Salazar on guitar, Eloise Wong on bass, and all four taking turns at the mic.

The pandemic kept them from writing in the same room much, but you'd never guess it. These are tight, bright blasts of punk and power pop about finding yourself and the jitters of adolescence, with "Oh!" as the sugar-rush calling card. Bikini Kill's Kathleen Hanna and skater Ray Barbee popped up in the videos, and a late-2022 tour alongside Japanese Breakfast, Bacchae and Yeah Yeah Yeahs carried the songs out on the road.
