Young Beauties and Fools, the second album from Kingston, Ontario's Glorious Sons, came out on October 13, 2017, and it was written in a rush: under two weeks from start to finish. You can hear the hurry in the best way, a record of big bar-band choruses and restless, heart-on-sleeve songs about the mood swings of being young.
"S.O.S. (Sawed Off Shotgun)", "Everything Is Alright" and "Josie" went out as singles, and "Everything Is Alright" did the heavy lifting, topping Canadian alternative rock radio and even picking up a champion in Daniel P. Carter at BBC Radio 1. Reviewers split between those who heard something catchy and big-hearted and those who found little under the surface, but the Junos had the last word in 2018, naming it Rock Album of the Year.
