Hypochondriac by The Frights

Hypochondriac, the third album from surf punks the Frights, out of Poway, California, came out on Epitaph on August 24, 2018, their first record for the label. Frontman Mikey Carnevale started planning it the day their previous album, You Are Going to Hate This, came out, overthought it for about a year, and then finally just sat down with an acoustic guitar. What came out, he said, was a confessional record he never thought a band like his would make.

The band cut it at Balboa Recording in Los Angeles in February 2018, with Fidlar frontman Zac Carper producing, over two straight weeks. It's also the first Frights record with guitarist Jordan Clark, who joins Carnevale, bassist Richard Dotson and drummer Marc Finn. The surf-punk snot is still there on songs like "Over It", but this time the band turns the camera on itself.
