This Could Be Heartbreak, the fifth album from the Amity Affliction, came out on 12 August 2016, with Will Putney producing. The band from Gympie, Queensland, had built their name on painfully personal songs about depression, anxiety, death and addiction, many drawn from singer Joel Birch's own struggles, and the record sounds every bit as raw: Birch's raw screams slam against huge clean-sung choruses, while Dan Brown's guitars grind out a heavy metalcore churn.
It was Ryan Burt's final album behind the kit; he had drummed on every record since their 2008 debut, Severed Ties. The title track and "I Bring the Weather with Me" were among the songs the countdowns picked up. Misery followed.
