The Weakness, the third studio album from singer-songwriter Ruston Kelly, came out on Rounder Records on April 7, 2023, and it's a swerve. After Dying Star and Shape & Destroy, Kelly brought in a different producer and let pop punk into the room.
This is a songwriter who got his start as a Nashville publishing-house writer, with "Nashville Without You" landing on a Tim McGraw album, and his debut EP Halloween was produced by Mike Mogis. Here he reaches for louder, punchier guitars and big, cathartic choruses, and the title track shows the new approach at its most direct.
