Hideous Bastard, the debut solo album from the xx singer Oliver Sim, came out on Young on 9 September 2022, produced by his bandmate Jamie xx. It's an intimate, unguarded record about queerness, and about Sim's own experiences living with HIV, sung in that low, velvety voice with nowhere to hide.
Jamie xx wraps the songs in shadowy, cinematic production, and "Romance With A Memory" moves with a sly pulse. Yann Gonzalez made a companion short film to go with it, and it had its premiere at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival.
