Beneath the Skin by Of Monsters And Men
Beneath the Skin is an album by Of Monsters And Men, released in 2015. 2 songs from it have charted on rock radio countdowns, with 19 countdown appearances in total. The biggest is “Crystals”, on 13 lists with a best position of #9.
Beneath the Skin, Of Monsters and Men's second album, arrived on Republic in June 2015, and the Icelandic band sound big, moody and wide open. Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir and Ragnar Þórhallsson still trade vocals and acoustic guitars, with Brynjar Leifsson's lead guitar, Kristján Páll Kristjánsson's bass and Arnar Rósenkranz Hilmarsson's drums filling out the sound.
"Crystals" is the stomping, anthemic entry point, all big drums and ringing guitars, and "Empire" keeps the scale widescreen. The title comes from a line in "Human". Leif Podhajsky created the artwork, and the package earned a Grammy nomination for Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package. It debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, selling 61,000 copies in its first week and becoming their highest-charting album in the US.
