Life in General, the third studio album from MxPx, came out on Tooth & Nail with cover art by the American artist Coop, and it's pop-punk with the speedometer pinned. The band, formed in Bremerton, Washington in 1992 under the name Magnified Plaid, had Mike Herrera on bass and lead vocals, Yuri Ruley on drums and Tom Wisniewski on guitar.
The songs are short, bright and bratty, all buzzing downstrokes and big sing-along choruses, and they don't pretend to be anything else. "Chick Magnet" is the calling card, and "Move to Bremerton" name-checks the Washington town they came from. It kept selling steadily, too: by the time Slowly Going the Way of the Buffalo arrived in 1998, it had moved more than 89,000 copies.
