Congratulations by MGMT
Congratulations is an album by MGMT, released in 2010. 2 songs from it have charted on rock radio countdowns, with 15 countdown appearances in total. The biggest is “Flash Delirium”, on 10 lists with a best position of #20.
Congratulations, MGMT's second album, first surfaced as a free stream on the band's website on March 20, 2010, before Columbia released it that April. Anyone waiting for another round of the synth-pop that made Oracular Spectacular a hit got a curveball: this is a psychedelic, prog-leaning, guitar-heavy trip that takes its sweet time getting anywhere.
Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser wrote most of it in early 2009, then decamped to a studio in Malibu with Spacemen 3 veteran Sonic Boom, Peter Kember, while James Richardson, Will Berman and Matthew Asti came into the studio with the core duo. Royal Trux's Jennifer Herrema added vocals. VanWyngarden said the songs were the band's way of coping with the madness of sudden fame. The fans came anyway: it opened at number two on the Billboard 200 on 66,000 copies, the band's best week yet, and at number four in the UK.
