Infinity, Journey's fourth album, came out on Columbia in January 1978, and it's the record where the San Francisco band stopped noodling and started singing. The outfit had been put together in 1973 from Santana, Steve Miller Band and Frumious Bandersnatch alumni and began life as a progressive rock band; here they bring in a new frontman, Steve Perry, and a set of pop arrangements built to carry his soaring voice. Roy Thomas Baker produced, giving Neal Schon's guitar, Gregg Rolie's keyboards, Ross Valory's bass and Aynsley Dunbar's drums a big, polished gleam.

"Wheel In The Sky" rolls on a hard, driving riff, and "Lights" is a slow, glowing ballad with Perry front and center. It was also Dunbar's last album with the band.
