Weathervanes by Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit
Weathervanes is an album by Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit, released in 2023. 2 songs from it have charted on rock radio countdowns, with 23 countdown appearances in total. The biggest is “When We Were Close”, on 15 lists with a best position of #4.
Weathervanes landed on June 9, 2023, through Southeastern Records: Jason Isbell's ninth studio album, and the sixth he has made with the 400 Unit at his back. By now this outfit plays like a band that knows exactly where its leader is headed before he gets there, and the record wears its Americana tag comfortably, all worn-in guitars and room to breathe, the songs out front and the showing off kept to a minimum.
The critics lined up behind it, and it took home the Grammy for Best Americana Album at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards. "When We Were Close" and "Death Wish" are the two tracks that made it onto the countdowns.
