Tales of America, released by Verve Forecast on February 15, 2019, is the debut album from J.S. Ondara, the Kenyan and American singer-songwriter who goes simply by Ondara, and it's a newcomer's portrait of the country he now calls home, drawn in plain, unhurried songs.
"Saying Goodbye" is the one that found its way onto the countdowns, with "Lebanon" alongside it, and the record did well enough with critics to earn a second go-round: a deluxe version, Tales of America: The Second Coming, arrived that September with the original songs plus five bonus tracks. He is a Grammy nominee, too.
