Savage, the sixth studio album from Eurythmics, came out on RCA on 9 November 1987, with Dave Stewart producing. Annie Lennox and Stewart had been a duo since 1980, after their days in the Tourists, and here they sound restless and sharp-edged, building cool, prickly settings for Lennox to prowl through.

Four singles came off it, "Beethoven (I Love to Listen To)", "Shame", "I Need a Man" and "You Have Placed a Chill in My Heart", and all of them did well around the world. "I Need a Man" is the one rock radio grabbed hardest. At home the album reached number seven on the UK chart and went platinum.
