The Crux by Djo
The Crux is an album by Djo, released in 2025. 3 songs from it have charted on rock radio countdowns, with 12 countdown appearances in total. The biggest is “Basic Being Basic”, on 7 lists with a best position of #12.
The Crux is the third album from Djo, the stage name of Joe Keery, the actor who played Steve Harrington in Stranger Things, and it arrived on April 4, 2025, released independently through AWAL. It follows Decide, the 2022 record whose "End of Beginning" caught fire on TikTok and gave him his first Billboard Hot 100 entry. Keery made it at New York's Electric Lady Studios, sharing production duties with his regular collaborator Adam Thein.
It's indie pop with an indie-rock itch, full of bright hooks and restless, playful arrangements. "Basic Being Basic", "Delete Ya" and "Potion" went out ahead of it, and critics mostly warmed to it. Keery took the songs out on the Back on You World Tour and the Another Bite Tour, and that September The Crux Deluxe added 12 new tracks, which he says he doesn't think of as a reissue at all.
