Diplomatic Immunity by Client Liaison

Diplomatic Immunity, the debut studio album from Australian indie pop duo Client Liaison, arrived on 4 November 2016, and at first only Australians could get their hands on it: the pair put it out on their own terms and kept it at home. Everyone else had to wait until 17 November 2017, when it was reissued around the world and finally turned up on the streaming services.

It was a long time coming. Vocalist Monte Morgan and keyboardist-producer Harvey Miller had been turning heads since the 2012 video for "End of the Earth", then followed it with a self-titled EP in 2014, so this is the sound of a duo finally stretching out to full length. Miller's keyboards glide and shimmer, Morgan croons over the top with a lounge singer's poise, and the whole thing wears its retro gloss with a wink rather than a sneer.
