Heart Shaped World by Chris Isaak
Heart Shaped World is an album by Chris Isaak, released in 1989. 3 songs from it have charted on rock radio countdowns, with 71 countdown appearances in total. The biggest is “Wicked Game”, on 57 lists with a best position of #7.
Heart Shaped World, Chris Isaak's third album, came out on Reprise on June 13, 1989, and it's the one that finally broke him. Erik Jacobsen produced, and the record wraps rockabilly twang in a late-night haze: reverb-soaked guitars, slow-burning rhythms and a voice that swoons and aches like it wandered in from a lonelier decade.
The breakthrough came on the back of "Wicked Game", a top-10 hit and a smoldering, heavy-lidded ballad that sounds like a desert heat shimmer set to music. The title track and "Don't Make Me Dream About You" keep the same heartbroken mood. It remains Isaak's best-selling album, certified double platinum in America.
