The Preview by Chiddy Bang

The Preview, the second EP from Philadelphia duo Chiddy Bang, came out on Virgin in early October 2010, and it's a calling card for an idea that was everywhere that year: rap over indie rock. Chidera Anamege, rhyming as Chiddy, and Noah Beresin, alias Xaphoon Jones, had been introduced by Zachary Sewall, another early member, while both were studying at Drexel University, and their sound was stitched together from samples of the likes of MGMT, Passion Pit, Radiohead, Sufjan Stevens and Yelle.

Chiddy's rhymes are quick, cheerful and unbothered, bouncing over the loops like a kid who has just found the party, with "Opposite of Adults" leading the charge. It sold 6,000 copies in its first week, debuted at 76 on the Billboard 200, reached number two in iTunes' hip-hop category, and had some observers tipping the pair as Philadelphia's next big thing.
