Every Kingdom by Ben Howard
Every Kingdom is an album by Ben Howard, released in 2011. 2 songs from it have charted on rock radio countdowns, with 5 countdown appearances in total. The biggest is “Keep Your Head Up”, on 4 lists with a best position of #8.
Every Kingdom, Ben Howard's debut album, came out on Island Records on 30 September 2011, on CD, LP, download and even a 200-copy cassette. Howard wrote every song and Chris Bond produced, and a good chunk of it revisits his early EPs: "The Wolves" and "These Waters" come from These Waters, "Keep Your Head Up" from Games in the Dark.
It's hushed, intricate folk, all percussive, fingerpicked acoustic guitar and a voice that swells from a murmur into a full-throated ache. The record kept growing long after release. It earned a 2012 Mercury Prize nomination, then climbed to number four in the UK in February 2013 after Howard's Brit Awards week, and eventually went triple platinum. "Black Flies" later closed out a bonus episode of the game Life Is Strange: Before the Storm.
