Burn Something Beautiful found Alejandro Escovedo on Fantasy in October 2016, the follow-up to Big Station, and he didn't make it alone: Peter Buck and Scott McCaughey produced it. Escovedo has been making records for decades, bouncing between punk rock, roots rock and alt-country and between Austin, San Francisco and New York, with the guitar always his main weapon, and this one sounds like a lifer who still wants to plug in and turn it up rather than settle into the rocking chair. The Crossing came next.
